National Ski and Snowboard Week to be launched at Blue Mountain Resort, ON January 13th, 2006

The Canadian Ski Council Chairman, Dave Cormier is cordially inviting you to join the Canadian Ski Council for the official launch of 2006 National Ski and Snowboard Week (NSSW) taking place at Blue Mountain Resort, ON January 13th, 2006.

Brought to you by your friends at Samsung and the Canadian Ski Council, National Ski & Snowboard Week is perfectly timed to take advantage of this winter's best snow conditions. From coast to coast, it's a virtual guarantee that every ski and snowboard resort in Canada will be at their snowy best in mid-January, from their smallest hills and hits to their biggest parks and pipes. Whether it's
a special deal on lessons and rentals or the chance to see and participate in some of the biggest events of the season, 101 snow resorts across Canada are where it's all happening.

The official kick off of NSSW will be taking place at Blue Mountain Resort and we would be pleased if you can join us to help kick off this celebration of snow!

Fifty well-deserving grade 5 students from Brandon Gate Elementary School in Toronto, Ontario have also been invited to attend the official launch of National Ski and Snowboard Week on January 13th, 2006. Blue Mountain and other ski industry partners have generously donated the gift of skiing and snowboarding to these 10 year-old children whom ordinarily would not have the opportunity to get out
and enjoy a day on the slopes.

With the rising threat of obesity related disease, health problems that plague many Canadians, there is no better time to promote the benefits of becoming involved in a recreational activity, even during the cold winter months. Skiing and snowboarding are accessible to all Canadians and are affordable winter sports. Equipment and instruction are available at any ski resort across the nation. However, many children who live right in the Toronto area are never given the chance to get out and enjoy the benefits of outdoor winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding.

These lucky 5th graders have been working hard and making the grade in order to be included in this ski and snowboard experience. We hope this day on the slopes will enhance their lives and provide them with a chance to develop skills and a love for the sport for their entire lifetime!

Each of the fifty students will not only receive complimentary ski and snowboard lessons and equipment rentals they need to get them up and sliding on the slopes but other industry partners have also agreed to outfit the kids to keep them warm during their outing and get them skiing and riding in style. The class of 5th graders will each receive brand new gloves to keep their hands toasty
warm and a healthy lunch for their day on the slopes.

The Canadian Ski Council is extremely grateful to industry partners for making this ski excursion possible for these students. Partners include: Blue Mountain Resort, Samsung Canada, Swany Gloves, etc.

Additional information, including a press release on National Ski and Snowboard Week as well as the launch program's schedule of events is attached. An official invitation with an RSVP form will be sent out early next week.
