‘Adventures with Nature’ is part of the Family Summer Fun at Midland’s Wye Marsh

‘Adventures with Nature’ is part of the Family Summer Fun at Midland’s Wye Marsh Midland, Ontario, Canada…………….June 2008. Getting closer to the animals is a new theme and feature at the Wye Marsh for the summer 2008. Live animal shows take place daily in July and August at 1:00pm and vary throughout the week. Examples of new shows are Slippery Snakes, Hawk Hunters, Terrific Turtles, Frogs are Friends. The ever expanding Birds of Prey Family Show returns every Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The show is included in the price of admission. Visitors will experience spectacular birds of prey in action including Hawks, Owls, Falcons, and Vultures. For an up close and personal look at Birds of Prey http://www.wyemarsh.com/birds-of-prey.html visitors should arrive 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the show.

According to Laurel Finney Wye Marsh’s Education and Stewardship Program Coordinator, “Our naturalist staff are ready and excited to offer superior quality programming and live animal shows throughout the summer months.” Laurel comes to Wye Marsh with an extensive list of credentials including: a Bachelor of Education from Queen’s University, Bachelor of Science from University of Guelph, and an Environmental Education Master’s Certificate from Hamline University in Manitoba. Her work experience includes being a Park Interpreter at Bruce Peninsula National Park and an Outdoor Education Specialist for the Haliburton Forest & Wildlife Reserve Ltd.

In addition to the ‘Adventure with Nature’, two showing of special Wye Marsh programs occur daily including, Tracking Critters of the Marsh, Queens, Drones & Workers, Backyard Beginner Birding, and Wildflower Garden Tours are examples of the daily programs.

Canoe excursions are run daily throughout the summer and provide families with a guided nature tour …..a perfect outing for a look from inside the marsh. http://www.wyemarsh.com/programs.html#fam

Other special events and programs this summer include: the 3rd Annual Swamp Swim, Wine & Cheese Art Exhibition In The Marsh, Snake School, Paddle Making Ecotour, and a Renewable Energy Seminar, just to name a few.
