Well-meaning safety concerns - as well as TV and video games
- are keeping kids sedate and indoors and may be restricting
their appreciation of, familiarity with and enjoyment of nearby
natural environments, say U of G landscape architecture researchers.
Prof. Nate Perkins, School of Environmental Design and Rural
Development, believes that wild places such as woodlots, creeks
and hedgerows develop children's imaginations in ways that
virtual simulations never will.
