Location
Midland and the Southern Georgian Bay area is known
as the "Gateway to the 30,000 Islands". The
Midland area is one of Ontario's Historically Significant
resort destinations dating back to Samuel de Champlain's
exploration of Georgian Bay in 1615 and one of the first
Jesuit Missions in North America. The Southern Georgian
Bay area provides recreational waterfronts, cruise operations,
sandy beach areas, hotels, motels, country inns, and
family resort and cottage accommodation. Most recently
the town of Midland was awarded "Winner"of
the Community in Bloom (towns under 20,000 population)
contest for 2005. Close to the Greater Toronto Area,
Midland is easily accessible via Highway 400 to Highway
