Beaches
The fresh waters of Georgian Bay-Lake Huron Ontario provide some
of the finest beaches in North America. Blue
Flag Beaches have identified several areas along Georgian Bay
as having some of the cleanest and best quality beaches in the world.
Wasaga Beach claims to be the world's longest fresh water beach.
For families visiting the beaches along Georgian Bay we encourage
you to take the opportunity to educate both yourselves and your
family about the beach habitat. In many cases the area around beaches
tell a remarkable story about area ecology and the evolving species
that rely on the fresh water to survive. A good place for an overview
of Georgian Bay beach ecology is the Friends of Wasaga Beach website--See
